I started my blog with big dreams

I started my blog at the beginning of 2018 and I had goals. More than anything, I wanted to create a living from something I enjoyed. I threw myself into my blog while working on becoming certified as a health coach. After a few months, I burned out. I was in denial at first, I told myself I just needed a break and that I would bounce back to it after getting my certification.

When I received my coaching certification in July, I still couldn’t so much as think about my blog. I kept myself busy so I had plenty of excuses to avoid it. And then, I got burnt out from that. There was nothing left to do but work on myself, clear the blocks, dig deep, and find a purpose (still avoiding my blog of course).

I started to journal and I worked on my shadow self. In a short amount of time I healed a lot of myself. I learned to listen to my higher self, my intuition, and I learned to follow through. When I felt pulled to paint, I painted. When I felt pulled to nature, I went on a hike. When I felt pulled to meditate, I meditated. When I felt pulled to work on my blog again, I was afraid. I am still afraid. I am afraid to put myself out there and to be vulnerable anyone, much less to the whole internet. But here I am, despite not having cleared all my fears.

By now you may be wondering when I share how to recover from burn out. Well I haven’t forgotten. My advice is to listen. Listen to your body and to your intuition. It takes practice but it is so worth it. Now that I have learned to listen I am taking things much slower. I am taking care of myself first. I am trying to not get obsessed with “making it”. I have a lot more faith now and a lot more trust. Here are a few tips to help you get there.

1. Take care of your body

You’ve heard this a million times and I am here to tell you a million times more. Take care of yourself. Make a conscious effort not to judge yourself and to have compassion. Treat yourself like you are your best friend. Honest, but kind.

2. Journal

I like to find journal prompts on pinterest, but journal however you like. Writing things out can bring fresh perspective, amazing insight, and inspiration. If you want to dig really deep, read these shadow self prompts by kellyAnn Maddox here.

3. Meditate

Meditating is crucial. I recommend meditation for every problem in your life. Meditation will help you to get in tune with yourself. You will learn to listen to yourself and heal. If you don’t like meditation, I advise trying many kinds until you find one that suits you. If you still don’t like it, ask yourself, why are you resisting being still? What feelings are you avoiding?
